Orchestra Izgrev (the name means "sunrise") is a Bulgarian wedding band founded in 1998 and based in Chicago.  Its members are all native Bulgarians who are accomplished musicians and eager to share with Americans and Bulgarians the vibrant musical colors of traditional and modern Bulgarian music.  Izgrev has performed for various folk-dance gatherings in the Midwestern United States, and has a repertoire that reaches beyond the borders of Bulgaria with a variety of other Balkan music.  The members of Orchestra Izgrev are:

Orchestra Izgrev will also be performing at a Bulgarian/Bosnian Dance on Friday, May 18 from 7:00 p.m. to midnight at the St. Louis Tap Room Restaurant, 2100 Locust Blvd. in St. Louis (see map).  Bosnian music will be played by the Mensur Hatic' Group of St. Louis.  Admission fee is $8 per person.

Mensur Hatic' is a gifted musician who plays accordion, keyboard, and also sings.  He graduated from the Conservatory of Music in Tuzla, Bosnia, and taught music in Bosnia before coming to the United States.  He toured the former Yugoslavia in concerts and has been featured on 13 studio recordings.  Mensur has taught at the Balkan Camp in Ramblewood, Maryland, and also runs a music school at which he is the instructor.  He has just released a CD entitled Last Stop, Brcko.
